Oscar Nominees gets Motorola ROKR E8

Oscar Nominees gets Motorola ROKR E8. Motorola’s planning to award ROKR E8 handsets to Oscar nominees, before letting the huddled masses know when the phone goes on sale. The ROKR E8, which was showcased at CES in Las Vegas last month, has been beautifully boxed-up for Oscar award hopefuls, such as Sweeny Todd star Johnny Depp and Juno beauty Ellen Page.

Motorola’s ROKR E8 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge handset, with a 2in display and 2GB of internal memory. There’s also a memory card slot, allowing Oscar nominees to capture the event’s glitz through the phone’s two-megapixel camera. Actors and directors up for a potential Oscar-win will be getting their as-yet-unreleased Motorola ROKR E8 in a custom Red (female) or Blue (male) faux-iguana skin box adorned with each nominees’ name and Oscar category. They’ll also be getting a pair of Motorola S9 HD Bluetooth headphones.

The Oscars take place on 24 February, but the ROKR E8 isn’t expected to hit European stores until some point during the first quarter of this year. Aside from its appearance at the Oscars, Motorola has not confirmed when they’ll be shipping the Motorola ROKR E8. But, Moto launched the RIZR Z3 shortly after it made its rounds as an Oscar gift. We may just be seeing the Motorola ROKR E8 sooner than later (and don’t discount Mobile World Congress 2008 as a potential announcement-event).
