K660, a new addition to the K-Series introduced by Sony Ericsson. Sony Ericsson K660 packs landscape Web browsing and dedicated shortcut keys into a classy looking handset targeting a young Web-savvy audience. K660 is a UMTS/HSDPA 2100 and GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 phone.
Sony Ericsson K660 is optimized for the Web with landscape browsing, dedicated shortcut keys, desktop tickers, a PC-like mouse experience when in Web mode, picture & video blogging and Google™ Maps for Mobile, all benefiting from HSPDA broadband speed. The K660 also includes a 176x220 pixel 262K QVGA display, 2 Megapixel camera, Memory Stick Micro™ removable storage and impressive music and video players.
The K660 is based on Sony Ericsson's Java™ Platform 8 (JP-8), supporting Mobile Services Architecture (MSA) JSR 248, the next-generation Java umbrella standard. MSA aims to reduce fragmentation in the industry by creating a predictable environment for developers, reducing porting issues when developing new applications and games for the new generation of phones.
K660, an HSDPA (‘mobile broadband’) enabled phone with clever features like illuminated shortcut keys that only become active when surfing the Net, and desktop tickers that provide regular updates from your favourite websites; all designed to make Web browsing on the move as simple and convenient as at your computer.
The HSDPA enabled K660 will come packed with loads of interesting web related features such as RSS desktop, landscape browsing, email client, IM, Google search, Google Maps, and dedicated web keys, all of this running on a 2.0" QVGA display.
Other features include a 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and video recording, Media player, 256 MB Memory Stick Micro (M2), stereo Bluetooth with A2DP, FM radio and speakerphone.
K660 will hit the market in 'lime-on-white' and 'wine-on-black' color versions in the first quarter 2008. Price was not disclosed.
