W960i Sony Ericsson Start Shipping Soon

Sony Ericsson confirmed that W960i will be in store before December. This slim UMTS touchscreen Walkman phone was announced back in June. Sony Ericsson W960i is a "Walkman" version of the Sony Ericsson P1i 3G smartphone, and it can be considered to be a straight upgrade to the existing W950i.

Two major improvements with the W960i over the previous model are the inclusion of a 3.2 megapixel camera and WiFi support - the lack of a camera on the older model was an oddity due to the fact that it too was based on another Sony Ericsson smartphone, this time the M600i.

The W960i is the upgraded version of the W950i and it features a 2.6", 262k color TFT touchscreen, 3.2 megapixel camera with 3x digital zoom, Walkman Touch Player, an 8GB hard drive, Wi-Fi and it runs Symbian OS.

W960i uses a large 2.6" 240x320 pixel resolution touchscreen plus a jog dial. The W960i's underlying operating system is Symbian with the UIQ interface on top, which means that there are a wide variety of applications available, possibly also including corporate push email solutions. This makes the W960i an unusually powerful member of the Walkman family.

The 2.6” touch-sensitive display is great for Web browsing. Hook up to the Web using the 3G network or a Wi-Fi access point. Visit your favourite pages, buy music online, and download new programmes to make the Sony Ericsson W960 truly yours. To catch the fun, the W960 Walkman phone boasts a 3.2 megapixel camera within its 16mm frame. Auto focus makes your photos sharper, and with picture messaging or email you can share them instantly. Another way to spread the word - or photos - is to post them on your own blog site. As with the W910 Walkman phone, you can organize all of your content for the W960 using Media Manager PRO, a PC programme for optimizing music, photos and videos to be used on your phone.

Sony Ericsson will start shipping the W960i this month, November. Unfortunately, we still don't have a price yet.
