Samsung SGH-F490 Video

Samsung SGH-F490 Video. This is follow up from last post, Samsung SGH-F490 Touch-Screen. If you like the Croix interface, you’ll like the Samsung F490. The unique thing about this handset is that it pairs the Croix interface with a touch-sensitive display with haptic-feedback. Actually, like all Samsung handsets with vibration-feedback, the F490 uses a pseudo-haptic feedback system. The entire device vibrates to indicate a button/keypress, rather than localizing the vibration/haptic feedback to the specific area of input. It’s not real haptic feedback, but it’s a start.

Samsung F490 features a 3 megapixel camera and HSDPA in a slim package that should appeal to the style-seekers out there. It has HSDPA at 3.6Mbps, UMTS, and EDGE. On the same wireless side, it also has Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP+ and AVRCP, but no WiFi. Other than that it has some fairly respectable media players inside, a nice smooth, shiny finish, and a light weight of 102 grams. The Croix interface was really slick, but the only media on the handset was some “bell” ringtone - not the best way to test the audio functions. Basically, it’s a pretty nice phone, don’t forget to check out the video.
